What does FNTP stand for?
As a Functional Nutritional Therapy Practitioner (FNTP) I take a holistic, foundational approach to my client’s health, looking at the big picture and diving deeper into areas that are out of balance to encourage the body back to a place of homeostasis or balance. We believe that they symtoms that our bodies present are messages our bodies are sending us crying out for help and telling us that something isn’t quite right.
I take those symptoms and try to identify a root cause with quantitative and energy-based tools like extensive questionaires, lab work and muscle testing. Through coaching, educating, I encourage my clients to become knowledgeable about and responsible for their own health utlizing dietary changes, lifestyle choices and targeted nutrients in the form of supplements. Our bodies have an innate ability to heal themselves if given the right tools and environment. My goal is to hel you facilitate this.
My goal is to help my clients reach their optimal level of overall health through analyzing and optimizing these key areas of focus:
Consuming a predominately nutrient-dense, whole foods diet
Ensuring proper daily hydration
Optimizing gut function and digestive health
Balancing blood sugar and the way we cope with stress
Supporting balanced mineral status
Ensure you’ve got the right fatty acid intake and absorption
Since food and nutritition is only one piece of the health puzzle, we’ll also likely disuss:
Movement
Sleep
Mindfulness
Getting outside
Community
Emotional trauma
We’ll start with looking at the symptoms you feel on a daily basis and connect them with system imbalances in the body. I’ll make dietary and lifestyle suggestions to help eliminate your symptoms, get the systems and organs functioning properly again and get you feeling your best. One important thing to note is that I won’t just put you on a restrictive diet or tell you what not to eat. There is a time and a place to bring in a therapeutic diet for the short term or eliminate some food sensitivities to allow your gut to heal, but I avoid dietary dogma and will always focus more on what foods to bring in and teach you about swaps you can make so that you can still enjoy food and eat what you love. Sometimes it is a bit of trial-and-error as each of us is different and what is good for you might not be right for everyone.
One thing that differentiates FNTPs from other nutritionists and wellness practitioners is that we won’t just give you unnecessary, one-size-fits-all advice, or ask you to take a bunch of supplements that just mask the problem. We aim to get to the root cause of your symptoms so that you have an understanding of how and why you’ve gotten to where you are and we can ensure that they won’t continue to return. We’ll ensure that the cut heals instead of just covering it up with a bandaid over and over again.
I’ll meet you where you are at. If you are overwhelmed easily or are just really busy, we can start small and slow, making a few changes or modifications at a time. If you’ve got a lot going on and just want to dive in and make some sweeping changes we can do that too. Depending on your symptoms, we may run some lab work to look under the hood a bit more and get a clearer picture of what is going on, and/or we’ll incorporate energy work and muscle testing. Each client is so different and the approach we take is different too and based on the client’s budget and other factors that we’ll discuss together.
